ACT ATOD Chief Executive Officers/Executive Directors Group

The ACT Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Chief Executive Officers/Executive Directors Group is involved in the strategic development and implementation of key sector-wide activities for the ACT alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) sector in the ACT.

The Group is an essential component of the ACT ATOD sector’s governance, which is reflected in the ACT Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Strategy 2010 – 2014 (the ATOD Strategy) alongside the ACT ATOD Workers Group and the ATOD Strategy Evaluation Group.  The Group is also a key advisory group to ATODA.

Recent Chief Executive Officers/Executive Directors Group Activities

The ACT Specialist ATOD Executive Group met on 18 November 2014 and discussed a range of issues including:

  • Dr Linda Bilich, Clinic Manager, ANU Psychology Clinic, Research School of Psychology re ANU Post Graduate Program – presented to the EGs around potential for student placements with ATOD non government organisations.  ANU will be seeking placements in 2015.
  • Next Chair of ATOD EGs Group/Network – Susan Clarke-Lindfield has agreed to Chair the next six months (January – June 2015).  The next meeting will be held on 21 January at the Directions ACT office at Woden
  • ATOD sector input into Mental Health Care models.  Jill Hughes spoke about current planning for the Mental Health Day service at Belconnen which will be located at the new hospital based on the UC campus, and the Secure Adult Mental Health Unit.  Jill has been liaising with the team leader about capacity for AOD intervention.
  • CAHMA Radio Program 2XX 98.3FM  – the radio program occurs each Tuesday for a two hours and includes music, education and interviews.  CAHMA are developing a series of interviews and would like to interview each ATOD organisation’s service manager.
