On Thursday, the Standing Committee on Health, Ageing and Community Services (Committee) tabled its report, from its inquiry into the Drugs of Dependence (Personal Cannabis Use) Amendment Bill 2018 (Bill), in the ACT Legislative Assembly (Assembly). The Inquiry was referred to the Committee by the Assembly on 20 February 2019.
The Committee received 36 submissions from individuals and organisations and held four public hearings, where matters regarding the operational aspects of the proposed amendments were discussed.
The report makes 16 recommendations, which apply directly to amendments proposed in the Bill, as well as recommendations that consider the overall impacts relating to the legalisation of cannabis for personal use in the ACT.
